For had you been breathing,

In the country,

that it has become..

Your lungs would have been choked

By the pollution---

In our surrounds,

and our hearts—

The India

that you visioned…

Is free from the chains…

But not free from clutches of corruption—

You wished to break the divide between

the rich

and the poor—

It is everlong…

Intellect is rare to find—

Everyone takes shortcuts…

Humility is hidden—

Its Rage that is visible on faces…

The lands are taken…

The rivers have dried…

They say…

for development.

And yet..everything is scarce!

People are still fighting for bare necessities…

Food…water…light..

Role models have vanished…

Everyone is a model..

Learning has diminished..

Everything is a mirage..

Had you seen this progress..

You would have had…

Tears in your eyes!
